Born and raised in the Twin Ports, Dr. Davies attended the University of Minnesota Medical School, was Chief Resident in his final year at Washington University in St. Louis and obtained a Fellowship in pain medicine from Duke University. He returned to the Twin Ports in 2018 to make a personal and professional impact in his home community.
World-class clinical expertise, and a hometown mindset, allows Dr. Davies and the team at the Pain Clinic of Lake Superior to provide extraordinary care to you and your loved ones.

Jody, R.N.
Jody has been helping patients with medications, injections and pain pumps for 16 years at Lakewalk Surgery Center. She loves her co-workers and knows she is best able to serve patients because of her own needs at the pain clinic. When she isn’t working, Jody keeps busy with three boys, lots of hockey and camping.
For Jody, an ideal experience is one where she is able to partner with patients to identify and achieve a successful outcome. She says, “At the Pain Clinic of Lake Superior, you're not just a number. If we aren’t able to answer the phone when you call, we will call you back directly. There isn’t anyone screening our calls and we don’t have a two-month waiting list.”
When you’re in pain, every moment can feel like forever. Thanks to Jody and the team at the Pain Clinic, they personalize every visit to address the issues you face every day.

Tiauni, HUC
With over 13 years of clinical pain experience, Tiauni assists Dr. Davies and the team at the Pain Clinic of Lake Superior as a Certified Health Unit Coordinator. She enjoys working with patients to schedule their visits and appreciates the excitement her co-workers add to her days. When she isn’t working, Tiauni spends time with family, enjoys movies and games and shopping for great deals.

For Tiauni, her work can be difficult because she doesn’t like seeing patients in pain. She strives to provide laughter to her patients and says, “Since we are more familiar with you at the Pain Clinic, we are able to personalize each experience. I like that I can joke and laugh around to put a smile on someone’s face. It seems like our patients appreciate the work and extra time we put into their care.”
As a private facility, the Pain Clinic of Lake Superior provides individualized pain management treatment you can’t get at larger facilities. This allows the team to maintain a continuum of care for you that doesn’t end with just one visit.

Athena, NP
As a Nurse Practitioner at the Pain Clinic of Lake Superior, Athena helps patients by managing and treating those with chronic pain. She earned her Bachelor's of Science from the University of Minnesota in Duluth and completed residency at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas. Athena continued her education with a Master's in Science from Texas Woman's University before receiving Board Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
It was a mission trip during college to Guatemala and Mexico that solidified Athena's love of nursing. She says, "I have a passion for helping others and for learning how to advance the nursing profession." It was her work at a level one trauma center where Athena was able to hone her skills and says, "I learned what it means to provide compassionate, holistic medical care. It has been a joy for me, my husband and our two kids to bring that mindset back to the Twin Ports community."
As for her work at the Pain Clinic, Athena's goal is for patients to leave the office feeling heard and that their questions and concerns were addressed. "I care deeply about identifying short and long term health goals with patients. That way, we can provide the best recommendations, treatments and techniques that are tailored to those goals."
In her spare time, Athena is very active with her church as a Bible study leader and youth mentor. She also enjoys working out, hiking, cross country skiing, and spending time with her family and friends.
The staff at the Pain Clinic of Lake Superior is welcoming and friendly, with genuine care for patients. This environment fosters a trusting relationship with patients in the Twin Ports.
